There are several interesting "off-day" activities in which one can participate in Trinidad & Tobago. Golf, surfing, kayaking, caving and game fishing are perhaps five of the most strenuous and can be very easily arranged. A day out to visit the Nariva Bird Sanctuary, Asa Wright Nature Centre, Pitch Lake, Wild Foul Trust, turtle-watching or to horse-races is remarkably less wearisome on the body and equally simple to organise.
We recommend a boat trip "down the islands" to anyone who visits Trinidad and a similar cruise to the Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool when in Tobago. These tours may include scuba diving, water-skiing, and a barbeque lunch on a beach and they often provide the most memorable moments of our visitors' stay. Similarly, a helicopter tour is normally a unique experience through which you'll discover more than you could have imagined possible!
Any one of the several car hire companies will rent their vehicles upon production of your driving permit, but finding your way around Tobago is easier than in Trinidad, as the lack of proper road signs on the latter can leave one more than just a little frustrated! Exploring Tobago by car is a delightful pastime however – it is too small to get lost and you are likely to find several quiet, secluded spots along the way that are extremely beautiful and apparently as yet unexplored.
There are many very good restaurants in Trinidad & Tobago with food ranging from Creole/African to International, including Chinese, Portuguese, Indian, Italian, French, Polynesian and Thai. Naturally, our seafood is particularly tasty as it is delivered fresh each day but beware of our hot sauce – it is really peppery!
