The advent of the artificial surface at Tacarigua a few years ago provided our Men's and Women's hockey clubs with a great incentive to improve and we have accepted this challenge enthusiastically. To play as many games as possible against foreign competitors is one of the methods that we use to raise our standard of play and therefore all overseas team are warmly received.

A Carib beer - sponsored tournament flicked off in 1999 (even attracting a team from as far away as Holland) and it is now an annual fixture on our hockey calendar, played during the second week of August (5 to 12 August this year) at the new facility in Tacarigua, six miles from the capital, Port of Spain. In addition, the Men's & Women's Pan American Clubs Tournaments are being held from 4th to 11th November this year at the same venue.

Certainly, the hockey fraternity in Trinidad & Tobago remains one of the most friendly and hospitable group of people that one could wish to meet and visiting teams are quick to realise this - usually when a cold bottle of Carib beer is thrust into the players' hands immediately upon arrival at the airport!  The official season is from January to June but of course, tours between July and December can also be accommodated. Just make it happen.
